Goldfish Farming

Goldfish Farming – what a business! The number of goldfish farms around the world has seen spectacular growth. From China to the United States. Starting a goldfish farm is pretty easy – if you have space for ponds, goldfish almost raise themselves. Goldfish like ponds with muddy bottoms and you can fit in 30 square centimeters of water about 1cm of fish.

Goldfish - good profit

Start with older goldfish – at least 2 years old – better if they are 4 years to 6 years old. Your ponds should be different sizes and depths and should flow from one pond to another. The ponds should be cleaned out once a year – and allowed to stand dry for a few weeks to kill any bacteria. Goldfish do not mind cold water too much. You will need pumps and filters to keep the water clean, and to keep the water moving – this is important if you want your goldfish to thrive.

Some breeds of goldfish included the following:

Butterfly Moor goldfish
Oranda goldfish
Lionhead goldfish
Ranchu goldfish
Moor goldfish
Pearscale goldfish
Bubble eye goldfish
Celestial eye goldfish
Pompon goldfish
Ryukin goldfish
Wakin goldfish
Common Goldfish

Pet shops and collectors are the smaller markets for your fish farm products – Fish farming is done a a huge scale in China and the States – so finding large customers for your goldfish there may present some challenges – the local market for goldfish grows every year – and the rest of Africa is following suit!
